It was a major part of any type of worship done in the Scriptures, and it has developed into many different genres today, with the three major distinctions being: religious, secular, and inspirational. From classical to Chr-stmas, contemporary to heavy metal, many people have taken a few notes and instruments, and developed each their own style of playing and singing. Being a part of a musically gifted family, and personally blessed by Yahweh with a talent for music, our playing style has been influenced by the major genres of religious groups; contemporary, worship, and gospel. It is amazing how many people in the Sacred Name/Messianic have been musically gifted, either through lyrics, vocals, playing an instrument, or all three. I enjoy the niche of playing instruments, although I use all three in worship, giving glory to Yahweh, and also produce music.
With society’s immersion in a musical world, it makes me wonder how many people could be reached through the different genres, each appealing to that social group, yet still present a redeeming message. This would definitely be a calling that I might want to pursue…
Check out some blessed music we have found recently: http://www.fossilizedcustoms.com/kerry_alexander.html
He doesn’t use Yahweh the way we do, but his writing style is excellent.
You can listen to a fav. worship song from his album “Fill This Place” here.
Recently a question has come up in our family about our genealogy and if we have Israelite heritage.
Well, Dad did a search on Sephardim.com, and found our name in the list of exiled Sephardic Jews. The question of us possibly being Jewish was answered, but there is still one lingering in the back of our minds: What tribe are we from? Dad believes that we are of the tribe of Levi, beings that we are a musical family. I guess we truly won’t know until we are in the kingdom, but Mom brought up another interesting question…….
Why did Yahweh choose Judah to be the forefather for King David and Yahshua? What did he do that was so special, or not so special, to be related to the Messiah? Was there an underlying fact that no one will understand until it is revealed?
Anyone have an answer? And does anyone else know what tribe they are from?
Current world news: Japan has a massive earthquake killing over 1,400 people and hundreds are missing. Now, they are worried about a nuclear plant breakdown, exposing the area to radiation and further polluting the environment; not to mention the tsunami filling buildings with water leaving thousands without electricity and fresh water.
These world events are making some people ask why? Why must so many die? We know it has been prophesied that these things will happen, but why must so many suffer?
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Nation against nation, and kingdom against kingdom….. that is already happening. We see countries rising against their leadership, desperate for a change in their country.
Famines and pestilences? That has been happening for a long time, perhaps now it’s worse than before. I saw a video the other day about many kids who are homeless, living in a temporary shelter, wondering if their bellies ever will be full, if they will have a higher education, get married, give their children a life they didn’t have. It makes you wonder seriously how much in life you take for granted: food, shelter, education, technology, even family!!! This also makes me remember the inspirational movies I have watched on this topic: “The Blind Side” and “To Save A Life.”
How many times have you seen a homeless person and wondered what happened? You see teenagers in jail for drugs, stealing, be abusive. I think when I get older, part of my ministry with music will also be helping the younger generation, those in prison, those being abused, homeless, bullied, and teach them how to make their life better and create a closer relationship with their Heavenly Father.
Has anyone else seen these movies?

Yesterday, our family was studying whether new moons should be kept like Sabbaths or Feast Days, or if we should keep them as a normal day. The question was: Are new moons in the same category as other holy days? We recognized the fact that there are more burnt offerings on the new moons than on regular days, and certain people in the Scriptures also made mention of the fact that new moons are more important than regular days. While we were studying, I realized that whenever new moons were mentioned, it had a certain order: Sabbaths, New Moons, and Feast Days. I wonder if there is any importance in it, considering it is between Sabbaths and Feast Days. I also noted that these were listed in chronological importance: weekly, monthly, and yearly. Count the Sabbaths to determine the next crescent moon, make note of each sighting to schedule the Feast Days.
These are just some of the notes I made mentally; has anyone else studied this topic or have a different understanding of it?
I often see disabled fruit vendors or sweet sellers in public places on my travels. It is a pretty universal way for them to make a living. This story convicted me and I want to share it with you. We are often unaware of the importance of a smile or a good deed or a unkind word swallowed and not spoken, unless we are on the receiving end of it! The impact can be overwhelming! I hope you enjoy this.
with great JOY in Yahshua!
‘Excuse me, Are you Yahshua?‘
A few years ago a group of salesmen went to a regional sales convention in Chicago. They had assured their wives that they would be home in plenty of time for Friday night’s dinner. In their rush, with tickets and briefcases, one of these salesmen inadvertently kicked over a table which held a display of apples. Apples flew everywhere. Without stopping or looking back, they all managed to reach the plane in time for their nearly-missed boarding.
ALL BUT ONE!!! He paused, took a deep breath , got in touch with his feelings, and experienced a twinge of compassion for the girl whose apple stand had been overturned. He told his buddies to go on without him, waved good-bye, told one of them to call his wife when they arrived at their home destination and explain his taking a later flight. Then he returned to the terminal where the apples were all over the terminal floor. He was glad he did.
The 16-year-old girl was totally blind! She was softly crying, tears running down her cheeks in frustration, and at the same time helplessly groping for her spilled produce as the crowd swirled about her; no one stopping and no one to care for her plight.
The salesman knelt on the floor with her, gathered up the apples, put them back on the table and helped organize her display. As he did this, he noticed that many of them had become battered and bruised; these he set aside in another basket.
When he had finished, he pulled out his wallet and said to the girl, “Here, please take this $40 for the damage we did. Are you okay?” She nodded through her tears.. He continued on with, “I hope we didn’t spoil your day too badly.”
As the salesman started to walk away, the bewildered blind girl called out to him, “Mister….” He paused and turned to look back into those blind eyes. She continued, “Are you Yahshua?”
He stopped in mid-stride, and he wondered. Then slowly he made his way to catch the later flight with that question burning and bouncing about in his soul: “Are you Yahshua?”
Do people mistake you for Yahshua? That’s our destiny, is it not? To be so much like Yahshua that people cannot tell the difference as we live and interact with a world that is blind to His love, life and grace.
If we claim to know Him, we should live, walk and act as He would. Knowing Him is more than simply quoting Scripture and going to church. It’s actually living the Word as life unfolds day to day.
You are the apple of His eye even though we, too, have been bruised by a fall. He stopped what He was doing and picked up you and me on a hill called Golgotha and paid in full for our damaged fruit.
