Just for the fun of it: St. Patrick’s Day

Posted on

March 17 was St. Patrick’s Day in most of this civilized world.  If you wanted wanted my opinion on it, I would probably tell you that it is one of the more weird holidays, celebrating Irishness and leprechauns, green/blue and three-leafed shamrocks.

Why would someone who is not Irish want to keep this holiday anyway?  Or, for that matter, why would someone who is Irish want to keep St. Patty’s Day either.
Celebrating a saint who helped to Christianize too many people, patron saint for engineering, and taught non-believers about the Trinity using the shamrock leaf.  People don’t even think about the original reason for this holiday (not that it matters anyway). Most of the more civilized people drink on this day.  Not a very good way to celebrate any holiday.

So, If  you want  to learn more  about St. Patrick’s Day, look it up on the Internet.

Shalom

P.S. I refused to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day. However I did accidentally wear blue jeans,  a color that used to be associated with St. Patrick’s Day.
